Regular Tasks

Weekly or monthly Dhamma service is a great way to stay connected, help the center run smoothly and strengthen your practice. Here are some ways to get involved.

Day 0 Registration

  • Welcome students and help get them acclimated to the center
  • Show students to their rooms

Metta Day

  • Answer questions students have about giving service
  • Help students retrieve their valuables

Day 11

 

  • Prepare cleaning supplies and materials
  • Answer students’ questions about cleaning
  • Help students retrieve their valuables and arrange transportation

 

Between Course Service:

  • Help out with cooking and kitchen tasks
  • Help get the center ready for the next course

Grounds And Garden

  • Seasonal maintenance of garden beds
  • Caring for trees and shrubs
  • Trail maintenance
  • Maintenance of tents and platforms

Maintenance

  • Minor electrical and plumbing repairs
  • Maintenance of tools, equipment and machinery

Additional “Adopt-a-Jobs”

  • Restock and organize supplies (medicine cabinet, household supplies, spices, etc.)
  • Day 11 Laundry
  • Check vacuum cleaners and replace vacuum cleaner bags
  • Clerical and office help
